Since Japan has 2 separate powergrids, one operating on 50hz and one on 60hz, most electrical appliances have a switch to switch between 50 and 60hz, as does this clock. This clock is to be used in the US or anywhere else you have 110v / 60hz coming out of your walls. This clock was bought by me in Japan and since it came from Japan, it has a 100-120v/60hz motor in it.
The clock is working 100%, the motor was cleaned and lubricated and the wiring, the light, the cable and plug have been replaced by me.

I subsequently sanded the top and polished it up in such a way that you can still see the crack but you cannot feel it anymore. I glued it back together with some very strong glue. There was a large crack on the top of the clock (as you can still see) when I got it. The casing is made from a sort of bakelite (not sure), it is not plastic, that is for sure. This is a very cute, smallish Japanese flip clock.
